It's possible that the plastic itself is incompatible with the solvent in your paint. Different finishes on different plastics make it a bit of a mine field.

Well i've tried every combination I can think of and im still getting completely random results!! What works on one piece doesnt work on another, if its not the primer reacting with the paint its the plastic. Out of my dash I currently have 3 acceptable pieces lol! Gear Surround (in the wrong colour mind as I changed my mind) the button plinth, and ashtray cover!

I'm almost ready to give up, I may sand it all back down and take it somewhere and beg them to paint it for me!

Have you considered other methods for coating the surface? For example, vinyl wraps or even plastic-coating?

Not thought about anything else, a vinyl wrap might be plausible just depends how well I can stretch it around the curves. I have some offcuts of vinyl so might try a section to see.

Sorry to sound dumb but what is plastic coating?

Could I sugest that you pay a visit to your local model shop.I think they will have a primer which will seal the surface. Model planes have plastic parts which need painting and I have used it on my models with very good results
