CDTI not starting as crisp as it was
How long does the in tank pump run for and what should it sound like.I can hear the under bonnet pump whirring away but at the filler cap i can hear a sound like running water is this normal. Its a 53 plate with 104000 miles and is fully serviced Cheers chaps.

You can unplug the under bonnet fuel pump and then put the ignition on. You should hear a faint humming sound from the fuel tank with the cap off

Hi, The running water sound is probably the UBP sucking air from the tank, take off the fuel line from the fuel filter end and put end in a bottle ignition pos 2 see if you get a strong flow with no air or get your fuel level up around half a tank and if it starts ITP is dead. Good luck. Lee

Make sure you have well over quarter of a tank of diesel when running tests. |
