Gear change problem.
The other night I went to use reverse & had a problem selecting it, When I looked at the gear lever it seems to have shifted backwards to the point where the lever is hitting the back of the surround/trim panel when selecting it, this also happens selecting 2nd gear, I have checked the cables on the gearbox side of things & to my limited knowledge they seem to be fine & the outer cables are in their bracket slots, So whats next to check out?, Mrs Saunders says me having a floppy stick is liable to cause me issues when trying to push it into the correct slot resulting in damage of the internals,,,,,,Fnarr-Fnarr.

It might be worthwhile dropping the gear selector out from beneath the car and checking to see if the cables are secure in their ferrules.
While it may be awkward at first, I'm sure with the right kind of lubricant, you will be able to slide your knob in and out with ease, thus keeping Mrs Saunders happy. Fnipp Fnwurrple !! |

I have now ordered a 2nd hand one as I figure that if I find it knackered without any parts to hand then i will be left car-less so might as well change the whole assy ,,,,,,Mrs Saunders agrees as she loves it when i'm able to drive it home, plus she wants to help me, So I told her she could yank & twist my knob until it goes off, I will then have to get underneath tool in hand to do some screwing but warned her that I might need some penetrating oil as it can be tight down there, & it's no fun when it suddenly goes without warning & you shoot your bolt across the driveway...........chortle chortle yip yip !!. |
