It's all wrong if you ask me...The bonnet that is up seems odd, and the two motors on the right are sitting on what seems to be a giant MGF...

Very annoying picture. Does anyone know this place? Is it possible to salvage parts?

An absurd reflection on society today (and maybe MG management). A new car mangled like that (the red ZS), and all those others? If nothing else the standard bits would have helped keep plenty of cars going. But a consumer society has to consume, so we are expected to go out like little sheep and buy our new car every few years and throw away the old one...

If they were all registered as prototypes then this is their only fate! When you register them with the DVLA they have a special certificate that says thay they will either be re-registered and used for engineering or after X years they will be destroyed.

Prototypes were kept and used as we know for development use and lots of things on them were probably not standard and will have been through hell and back and we deemed them not suitable for "human consumption".

Just because they look in perfect condition etc, it wouldn't necessarily mean that they were and prototype parts are notoriously fragile as they're not mature enough. The V8 75 Estate was one of the original NVH cars I think when we did R75 Tourer and ZTT as the car was "interchangerbale" so to speak - plus it wasn't a very good car buy the end of play.

Although it looks terrible (which it is) seeing all of those cars piles up, they are in the safest place they can be for everyone.

I'm working on a car at the moment that costs in excess of £160k and it's final resting place will be similar to the MGR picture!!

While I always respect Nick's (Rincewind) inputs, I think that in some cases, some parts on those cars could have been salvaged, namely the mainstream ones like maybe grilles, fenders, seats, etc... and surely not the parts involving safety issues...

The whole situation illustrates the disposable society we live in today.
