If a small oil well in someones back garden reduced it's production by .0001% the price of fuel would go up in the UK.......
Will the Oil Co's lobby our MP's to take military action if supplies are threatened?? Prob already been agreed innit... The only question is how many casualties will there be, and the oil Co's have no interest in knowing that as it doesn't show up on a balance sheet... ..... |

What's going to happen if it kicks off in Iran? Well, let us look back at history -
the 1979 revolution in Iran. This caused the price of oil to spike, and this lead to the deep recession of 1980 - 1984. Mass unemployment, lack of growth, inflation etc. etc. The bad news is, this time the Saudis have no spare capacity to compensate. Those days have gone forever. What is more, Venezuela no longer toes the line either and they will probably cut production too as an embargo against the USA. The chickens are coming home to roost as far as how we have run this part of the world. By the way, the oil shipping lanes can easily be disrupted at the Straits of Hormuz. Mines, Missiles, fast attack boats. And no room for traditional navy's to manoeuver. Sadam Hussein managed to drag the west into his war with Iran with a handful of Exocets. He shot them into tankers, one a month, and forced the west to get involved in his war (and forced the Iranians to negotiate). Last edited by Dashiel; 24th January 2012 at 17:52.. |

The usa have been posturing at Iran for years, imo it's their next target area. Not least under the "no more nukes" banner which of course coming from the usa who have more than everyone else combined doesn't appear impressive to me. Their (usa) foreign policies seems to be they're not happy unless they are sabre-rattling at some middle east country. They have become the `bully boys' of todays world. Let's hope our MP's resist getting dragged in. (Though I doubt that.) Mike.
USA says jump ... our MP's ask how high .....Gutless wonders all. |

[B]And now with the oil refinery closing down any excuse to put the price up at the pumps expect to be a massive increase to a litre, and I think it will put the mokers on our National meets

Well, oil prices are done in western trade markets and by western oil (read American mostly) companies. In Arab countries prices did not move a lot. I know it because I'm in the Middle East most of the time and for the past 3 years...
