Time to say thankyou, and goodbye
Hi all, after 6 years and 140 thousand miles the time has come to move on from my ZT. Bought with 30 something K on the clock, it had a new clutch and a set of belts soon after I bought it. Then an lpg kit, no valvesaver. So that's nearly 140K on gas (and the same belts too...) It currently needs a front screen, front exhaust pipe/downpipe, belts and likely a new clutch too, since I've given it a roasting more than once, as well as at least one wheelbearing. So ultimately unless I'm keeping it for another two years that's it.
I've bought a Jag xf v6, if it's half as good as the ZT I'll be a happy man. All that remains is for me to say thanks to everyone on here for all the help and advice, the time has flown by. Happy motoring to everyone, I will forever smile when I pass a 75 or Zt on the road. Huw |

Sounds like you have had your money's worth out of the ZT Huw.
Good luck with the Jag - my mate had one and was well impressed overall, but couldn't get on with the headlamps so he sold it. |

Thanks all, I won't stay away completely, for a start I still need to shift my zt once I've robbed the lpg kit off it. Then my daughters k series turbo needs shifting, although I suspect that will go on a scrap lorry. But if anyone needs any bits let me know, I will remove and post, for a small fee.
That reminds me, I have the zt gearbox in the garage - it's a 190 so low geared 2lv6 spec one, if anyone's interested. |

It'll be a shame to see you go, but all the best.
Jaguar and BMW seem to be the 'natural' progression from our cars - seems to be the way at least 50% move on.

Yes the XF is a lovely car with loads of power and luxury to boot, but they are susceptible to electrical gremlins.
I had a 3.0D Premium Luxury and most of the “problems” were electrical but the big issue was door corrosion. After a long fight with Jaguar they eventually replaced all four doors but sadly just weeks later I was involved in a non fault accident where the car was written off. Disillusioned with Jaguar and with poor Main Dealer service I’ve moved to Mercedes with no regrets. If your car is a 2010 model it may be worth checking the front doors for corrosion. On my car the corrosion was caused by the sound insulation pads on the inside rotting right through. |
