A frog eye, Mk 1 Sprite.
A friend had one, and I had the very early Mk2, which was almost identical, in terms of suspension and instruments. Different body of course. Memories, Mike

There is something about old Fords that keep people interested. I like the MK I and II Cortinas, may even go to the MKIII, Old MKI Escorts and the RS2000 but Fiestas and Sierras too have their followers.

Re the sprite,
Interesting Registration, almost like the countdown to detonating a UXB, (unexploded bomb) The car still has it's front bumper, not many did, because it got in the way of the handle for lifting up the bonnet. Looks like a 1959 or 60 car, as the '58 cars had press studs to secure the hood against the top of the windscreen; afterwards it became a steel bar, that went into a slot by the windscreen rubber. Memories, No more though, because they involve young ladies. and one of them is still my wife. Regards Mike

If only I bought mine 5 or so years ago when the prices were sensible, the prices now are getting silly, I bought mine through gritted teeth. |

Respray now finished, she is out of isolation.
I'm trying out some new wheels, a set of Cyclones, how retro can we go? Last edited by Dallas; 21st May 2020 at 08:42.. |
