Hi if you are interested in WW2 you are not far from the normady beaches.All on the Normandy coast.

Go to Ouisterham and you can see Pegasus Bridge the site of the Glider landings and you can see the original bridge and museum

Honfleur is very pretty and well worth a visit.
It really depends what interest s you!

A couple of other suggestions;

Monet's Gardens at Giverney (D5). The gardens and house are well worth a visit. Don't forget your camera!

La Roche-Guyon (D913). This location is en route to Giverney and alongside the Seine. There is a large chateau built against and into a huge rockface. You can explore the chateau and climb up through tunnels to a look out at the top of the cliff. During WWII Rommel used this building as his HQ. It was practically bombproof because of its proximity to the cliff and there were air raid shelters built under the rock.

If you want a good mid-day meal look for any Bar that does a Plate de jour(I thinks thats how you spell it) where you can get a starter,main course,sweet,cheese and all the bread you can eat plus a bottle of red wine or water or cider.all for 10/12 euros oh! and coffee.You will pick out the best ones as there is allways a lot of cameons and works vehicles out side
These tend to get used by workers at lunch time,how they work afterwards I dont know.
never been to a bad one

sounds good to me number 6, I will look out for them. Thomas, unfortunatley we are taking the caravan so I have to drive the c-max and not the ZT, although the weight limit is ok its only the 1.8 and it struggles to get moving without a caravan so I dont tow with it as the wife refuses to get out and push up hills

It's all been said before and well worth the drive (for Deauville, Honfleur, etc...). Also, the routes around La Roche Guyon and Giverny are my favourites. What's your itinerary (to give you more points of interest on your route?
Here's my car at the famous castle of La Roche Guyon and on the outskirts of La Roche Guyon, just before getting to Giverny.
