Dipstick

Volvo is another. Crazy idea to replace an easy to monitor steel rod with a very iffy sensor system that is far more complicated when it comes to checking and filling. Many Volvo owners fit a dipstick @£60 odd as the the tube hole is simply blanked off. Ni9e |

A good idea, the problem is the sensor can get clogged or gummed up especially with these long service intervals.

Dipstick

Funnily enough, on the Volvo info centre it will say (for example) "add .5 litre". DIY oil changes can be a nightmare but there is a "service" dipstick buried deep where the normal stick would be. Obviously that is for the convenience of Volvo service engineers. That just goes to show when it comes to ease and speed of filling, that strip of metal still takes some beating. Ni9e |
