Default How to remove ends of springs

Hi probably a stupid question but on a rear ztt spring how do I remove the rubber top and bottom caps from a removed spring ?

The best way I've found is to leave them to soak in a bucket of hot water for a while to soften the rubber

Thanks, I tried that but then didn't know if it was brute force to lever off or unscrew them, also is refitting just the reverse ?

Yes turn them like a light bayonet, if you have a vice it would be your friend in this case, clamp the rubber in the vice and turn the spring or clamp spring and turn the rubber, as you say refitting just the reverse.

if you are struggling to remove them, wait until you try to fit them, ha ha.
I found putting the rubbers on the ground and turning the spring onto the rubber helped fitting.

I agree with Russ, i’ve always used hot soapy water makes life easier lol

Good old WD40 sprayed on the spring, and then a good bit of twisting and pulling.

well i did it with wd40 and one end just twisted off not easily but easier than the opposite end which had to be levered off, i ad 2 to do and both were the same so obviously one end easier than the other.
