Default Drivers door won’t open with key in lock.

A few months ago I lost the original key for my car (75 tourer). I called a guy who was able to make me a new key and chip it so the car would start but it doesn’t work as a remote fob. This was fine until I went out this morning and the lock won’t open with the key anymore. It will only turn to the right now, whereas up to now it would turn both ways. There is still a click when turned and the indicators flash and the horn even beeps occasionally too. But it will no longer turns to the left and unlock the door.
I’m locked out. What next?

Do the buttons not work on the fob? Not forgetting the transponder which you need to start the car

No, it’s just a key.

It’s a remade key with transponder but no remote opening. It was made at the roadside and has worked perfectly up to now.

What a situation I went through the same.

It was combination of non-synchronized FOB and broken wire inside the drivers door mechanism. The lock barrel was connected to the lock mechanism by "rod" driven by this wire/cable.

Basically, you need the transporder chip from your old key (paired to your immo), which you obviously have.

Then you need to have paired key fob itself to the BCU using the T4.

So if you are not able to lock/unlock door using the key, sounds more like a mechanical issue. I bet the inner cable has snapped or ripped.

You have to get into your car throught the boot - open the middle seat armrest with red button and reach your hand to the left rear door. Hope, you have long arms The alarm will probably get on

Good luck

I second kamil93's opinion. The cable link between the key barrel and the latch has failed. The original Valeo confection is fine multi-strand steel cable swaged into steel anchor blocks. The cable probably became distorted and stressed by the swaging process and failure appears to be from a combination of corrosion and fatigue.

I've documented my access to the problem and subsequent repair in these threads:

Good luck,

Derek.
