Colour matching paint?
I popped in to the local Wilco store today, while there I noticed they can mix up paint. I asked about it and he went on the system, he put in MG ZT, 2003 (mines '04 but strangely it only gave 2003 or 2005 years), and the paint code off the VIN plate, LEF. But the name it came up with was Obsidian grey, which I've never heard of. Has anyone else found this when trying to get paint? I got a little pot to try in an unseen area to see if its anything like a match, it does looks very much like another touch up pot I got years ago.

I had the same situation in Halfrauds some years ago, went in with the code and asked for a small touch-in stick (Rover Sonic blue), but it came up as Neon Blue.
Equally, Seafrost blue sometimes shows up as 'Teal'. Both colour matches were good though

There's a chap near me who can mix paint.
I went in for a touch up pen/brush kit for a friend's Audi. Out of interest I asked about 2001 Rover Wedgwood Blue 2 (Longbridge variant) He knew it and he came back 10 mins later having mixed up a kit. £10. I'm sure he'll post. A R Davies Motor Factors in Baldock. 01462 892304. Worth a call if anyone is stuck. Cheers John

I've just had some JFM mixed in a can this very morning to paint the repairs to my sills, and it is labelled as Oslo Blue. I questioned this, and the cross references are there online, and sure enough it's the same colour with a different name. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Paints4u-RO.../dp/B00CXMA7QA |

Many moons ago I popped into Halfords as they were claiming they could match and mix any colour as long as you had the paint code. I was told "IAN" was not a valid paint code .
I must confess, I didn't really expect them to match a monogramm colour, but it was irritating to be told I'd got the code wrong! Cliff

For example, HNA has four shades of green.

At least I’m not the only one then. At first it didn’t even come up with a ZT under MG, he had to go into BMC or something and then MG from there. I’ll try the touch up when I get a chance, hopefully it’s a good enough match.
