2004 ROVER 75 CLUB LE 4D SEDAN V6 AUTO - Coil springs failing
Hello Caskin, my model is a 2004/Rover 75, bought new in Western Australia and is 16 years old approaching 95,000 Km. I've just happened to come across this thread and have never heard of this problem. Is there is list of affected VIN's somewhere so I can put my mind at rest?

Dated:27.04.2004 No AD189 issue 1.Affected range :RJ133300 - RJ247257 Hope this helps to put your mind at rest. Having said that a great deal more vehicle outside of that recall range have been affected.I've had 5 rovers so far, my first failure was on the front spring of a 2004 V6 connie saloon. My present vehicle is a 2002 V6 connie tourer (42000) and both my rear springs went. The recall was never aimed at Tourers as their springs were supposedly stronger to absorb the larger loads they could carry!! At the time my springs went, the car was empty, and on a tarmac road!!! I have an original front spring tyre protector set (New),send me PM if interested, comes with instructions.

The spring failures must be related to the shape of the spring. I have run Rovers of various types since the late 60's and until I started with 75's have never had a spring break. I have 4 R8's no spring breakages in over combined mileage of 3/4 million miles. Spring shape on these Rovers is parallel coils, whilst my 3 75 tourers have broken 5 rears and 4 fronts between them. All the front ones have broken after the car was parked and not whilst being driven. This would suggest that the older school designers got it right, back to the future
