What a beautiful engine bay.
I have a 2005 diesel and I have that sound proofing on mine. Did they put it back ? or was it never deleted from diesels ? Pete. |

This discussion on sound deadening 'falls on deaf ears'

I don't know but it is also fitted to my late 2003 diesel ZT. I think I am going to add sound proofing under the back seat and in the boot though, that's where most of my noise comes from.

Strangely , my 2003 ZT180 had no bulk head sound deadener on it.
Got some off a 75 and fitted it, made a great improvement. Not sure if all Zt’s had none or not. |

I might be wrong (and probably am) but wasn't it the case that the engine bay bulkhead soundproofing was intentionally left off in the zt's to give it a bit more sporting sound by allowing more engine noise in to the cabin?
Or is it one of those 'Legends' ? my 190 has no bulkhead soundproofing unlike my 75 that has. Last edited by maxi_crawf; 6th January 2018 at 17:55.. |

Both my parents were profoundly deaf, my Dad who drove a car all his life always went by the feel of the drive rather (obviously) than by the sound and he never got it wrong, as a little kid I would always want to 'help' by pointing things out but he knew already

Expanding foam up your “A”, “B” and “C” posts works. However it may cause problems should repairs be needed in the future.

Injecting it into plastic bags spread along the length to be filled, or strips of bubble wrap can also be used.

I fitted under carpet sound deadening (Dyna mat type) For 'delmor' to his ZT, it reduced the road noise considerably and was a pretty easy fit once the carpets were out.
