Making the most of the mild December weather, Deb and I went for a stroll around RAF Sculthorpe yesterday, it has been thoroughly destroyed by metal thieves and vandals since its closure, a pity really considering its history, the runway and control tower are still on the 'Live' part of the site, we didn't venture into this bit (This time)

Love this thread Andy, I'm quite into this myself. Didn't realise you could get into Sculthorpe now.
What about west raynham? One of the downsides of Norfolk living is other than military stuff there isn't much industrial stuff to explore no mines and only one short railway tunnel. I have a key that fits ROC posts but once you have seen a few you have seen them all |

As you know, railway journeys are quite good an uncovering exploring sites as a lot of abandoned stuff can be found next to a railway line.

West raynham may be worth a visit.
The isn't much abandoned stuff next to the railway in Norfolk but there is an abandoned paper mill near Ipswich. You mentioned Sleaford maltings shame you can't get into that, I've often wondered when passing them |

Sleaford is doable, just involves a little climbing!

I do wonder how safe the flooring is on some of the bridges, as that place has been more or less abandoned for over 50 years quite amazing its still there

Marvellous pics once again Andy, so much history in those buildings.
Great place for a rock video. |
