Bosch and Febi Bilstein ABS Sensors?
Hi folks,
I think I would stand a better chance of getting a good ABS sensor if I buy a Bosch or Febi Bilstein. They are both German brands and I have seen it noted that one of them - the Bilstein, I think - is actually made in Germany. I also have seen reference to Bosch getting some wiper blades made in China. Yes, I'm sure every big manufacturer gets things made in China these days. Anyway, I can get the Febi Bilstein 104780 (35 Eur) and the Bosch 0 986 594 538 (60 Eur) in Slovakia. Does anyone know if they are actually made in Germany? Or, if they are known to be good sensors? Or know any other brand that is sure to work apart from the actual OEM Rover ones? Thanks all, Glenn

How'do Glenn
I've recently replaced both front wheel Speed ABS Sensors with Lemark Parts as far as i'm aware UK made and inexpensive without being cheap. Only done a few miles today since fitting, no issues so far (car was MOT tested today) I have no knowledge on the Bosch or Febi Parts r.e manufacturing origin. it's a bit of a lotto these days where any company has it's parts manufactured I fitted FAG/LUK Wheel Bearings - "made in India" seem Good enough Quality - time will tell. Getting a bit better these days. I restarted physiotherapy today and it went well. A bit of optimism can't hurt! I haven't heard of Lemark, but will watch for them. I just don't want to buy another ABS sensor only to throw it away. Thank you, Glenn

The problem is that automotive parts now come from manufacturing plants all over the place.
I don't know if Bosch still make ABS sensors in Germany, but they do have manufacturing plants in India and China, for example. The last time a bought a sensor for my Rover 75 (not ABS, but a camshaft sensor) it came from that well know Country that produces car components, Egypt!!! Good luck with your recovery Glenn, it looks like you have been through the mill.

The problem began when we all let our factories close and lay off all the workers who were making at least a living wage so the executives and shareholders could make obscene profits. They were able to do this because our governments said they could pay a paltry living wage to workers in poor countries overseas instead of our own. I have seen it said that both Bosch and Febi Bilstein ABS sensors are still made in Germany. But, who are the "they" who said that? Yes, Bob, I have had a tough year. Thank you for your sentiment. Glenn
