I'm bringing up this almost one decade-old thread as I've finally been able to cure this not-so-important issue that has nevertheless always been up there bugging me in the back of my mind: my engine running 4 to 5 degrees too hot in all circumstances.
Turns out I had the belts changed this week and had the stat changed as well. That, coupled with a thorough coolant flush and rinse of the whole system has had the result I was hoping for: my KV6 engine now runs at a temperature that is exactly 4 to 5 degrees less than what it used to be for the past 10 years (same temp sensor, before you ask, as this wasn't changed). It would now operate usually within 88-92° when under load, where it used to sit between 93-97° previously. It makes not much of a difference, but I'm very glad I could put this issue to rest after 10 years of sleepless nights
