I've had problems in the past with the warning " light out " but all the lights appeared to be working as normal. I managed to track mine down to a bad connection in one of the side lights. The light was working but they must of been some increases resistance in the connector. I just gave the connectors a wriggle and it seemed to sort it all out. Once I new which connector it was I then gave it a good clean up and fitted a new bulb.
Also if a tail light fails the brake light will illuminate to ensure you still have rear lights. Johnny

the boot lip that houses the rear number plate lights... there is a PCB inside that holds the festoon bulbs, this corrodes and breaks down...
