Default Fuel Senders

Guys, I need to sort this out and appreciate any help that people can give.

I know I have a fuel sender issue but I need to sort it.

I had an 1/8th of a tank showing today. Filled up until I could see the diesel in the filler neck.

Turned the key and the fuel guage went up to just over half and the range showed 333miles.

Now, I replaced the intank pump in January and it works fine although it was a second hand unit, when I filled up the guage would behave normally.

I need to know what to check and if parts are available, etc.

Thanks

I'm not sure of the setup, but I would have thought the easiest thing to do would be to remove them from the tanks and work them manually and see what the gauge does, or check the resistances. Silly question but just a thought, have you done a gauge check?

Whats a guage check? The one were you make the needles swing all the way around?

If so, done that, and its fine, full ROM.

How do I check the resistances and what are they? Also, where in the tank is the other resistor?

Gauge check, yeah makes the needles sweep, the fuel tank floats must give resistance reading. I will try and find out for you later what it should be, unless someone can help before.

the opposite side of the tank - use a multimeter and check for the resistor going open circuit, i can't remember if they are the same part number but use one reading against the other

Do you access it from the panel on the other side under the seat?
