Default VVC engine?

I'm sure I made notes of it in the past, but how do I confirm that my engine is VVC or not?
It's a 1.8T.

There were no VVC engines fitted to the Rover 75. 1.8T has the turbo and not VVC.

Regards John

You can, of course, fit a VVC inlet manifold

And if as dodgy car trader one such converted 1.8 came into your possession you could advertise it as VVC.....

My favourite was the salesman trying sell a 1.8 ZT-T 'Turbo'. Just kept insisting that one of the 'T's must stand for turbo despite standing at the open bonnet and pointing at the exhaust manifold and asking if this was an invisible turbo? And then at the missing grommets on the top radiotar brackets leaving the radiator to wobble about...

But that's a digression. Like Suzublu says there's no VVC engined 75s or ZTs from the factory. There are a fair few that have the inlet manifold from one fitted to replace the plastic manifold ( a popular modification). there may even be one or two that have had a whole 1.8VVC engine dropped in as a modfication but I couldn't say for sure.

Sorry for the hijack, but as the question has been answered… I have a little TF as well as my beloved tractor, and have given some thought to having it converted to VVC. Haven't looked at it hard yet, but I always assumed there would be a mechanism in the cylinder head to rotate the camshafts, using solenoids or oil pressure, necessitating a head change…

For the conversion to be carried out, does one need a lot of other things, eg this manifold, and maybe a different ECU?

Ah, OK, I don't know much about it - I read somewhere that the engines were identical apart from the heads - thanks for the clarification.

Below the head I wouldn't be sure. I've never looked at the core engine specs (bore, stroke, compression ratio etc...).

I did think or remember (perhaps wrongly) that there's more the VVC than just the heads camshafts and ECU though.

Assuming you have a 135 the most basic conversion would be swap to a VVC head , VVC wiring loom, and ECU.

The internals are slightly different but unless you're building it for competitive use it'll be fine
