Problems after fitting new rear brakes
Rover 800 but looking for help. Rear pads, I can slide them onto the carrier easily and the piston screwed right back in and the Caliper slides again easily but can only get one of the bolts into the carrier with the other about 5mm out. Sitting like this the disc spins freely but if I force the calliper so that the other bolt goes into the carrier the disc jams. Been off and on a few times before posting here. So any ideas the other side was the same but only a couple of mm out and I just pushed that calliper into position and all new and refurbished

| would have thought its got to be either, the pads aren't seated correctly in position or they are wrong/faulty .

The disc towards the centre is not as worn as the outer part.
As you push the caliper into position the new pads hit this ridge. Unfortunately you will need new discs.------------- PS. Or get the ridge skimmed off. |

Hi sorry just seen this, j have new discs fitted and the brakes have been fully refurbished, the o/s ones were tight but I just gave the Caliper a thump with my hand and the second bolt aligned with the carrier, but this side I had to hit the calliper with a rubber mallet to get them to fit. Yet the calliper is fully wound back in and slides easily over the pads. Discs and pads were pagid so looks like I’m stuck waiting on a dry hour to have another try

Well got it sorted in a couple of minutes, I did say that it was the rear brakes in the op well the dimple on the pad and the piston weren’t lining up so small rotation and all is fine, now to get a hand to bleed them
