Fitted a working balance VIS- its not worked since I bought the car, I wasn't expecting a huge difference, but was pleasantly surprised just how much better the car picks up from @3000 revs

Over the last four weeks I've replaced the No.1 piston and con-rod, while the head was off fitted a new up-rated oil ladder, MLS head gasket, a couple of MG TF135 camshafts, poly bushed the lower engine mount, fitted a new top hydra-mount, relaced the top engine tie bar, oil filter, changed the gearbox oil, replaced the nearside inner CV joint gaiter, fitted new front disc pads, and rear light seals. Bled the heater matrix. It's running very nicely now, hopefully the only thing I'll be posting here for a while is "cleaned and polished it"

Washed and polished it, again. Wife asking why do I keep this car so clean when I never used to bother with the BMW.
It's because, I now have another Rover. Always kept my Rover 800 clean but eventually the tin worm killed it. |

Driving through a (very) deep puddle to entertain my granddaughter. I found out the hard way that the Shannon tube isn't a snorkel even if it's been replaced with silicon hose. While waiting for recovery I also got told by a five old " Granddad, you really should think before you do stuff"

Did a bit on door locks today. Stripped the handle and locking assembly from one of the scrapper doors, then sorted the driver's handle, which was a bit erratic on the Gold Rover. Just an adjustment on the operating rod needed.
Next job will be to replace the broken handle on the Firefrost, and then swap the lock assembly on Big Ron the Copperleaf 75. Nice leisurely bit of pottering in the sunshine. . Last edited by Mike Noc; 20th May 2017 at 19:59.. |

I've been to my local scrapyard. Got a front fog light as mine is misted, a replacement scuttle panel as mine is in bits, an outside temp sensor, door handle for the Cowley car, and various clips etc. Also learned how to take the wipers off when getting the scuttle, so am now more confident about it!
And here is the photo evidence of a girl in a scrappy removing a bumper... The staff seemed quite shocked, which I thought was funny! |
