We have a nephew aged 21 with autism who needs care 24/7 and who is unable to speak, because that part of his brain will not work. He communicates to us using a laptop. Over the years, he exchanged emails with Prof Hawking, a compassionate man and a sad loss to the world. RIP

Really sad to hear this, he was a hero of mine, so very very clever and the science community will miss him so much.
RIP Professor Hawking.

As others have said, a truly remarkable man. I’m surprised he was never given a knighthood.
Loved the story this morning when he tested if time travel was possible.
He arranged a party and had the best champagne ready but he sent the invitations out after the day of the party.
He said no one turned up so that proved conclusively that if time travel existed someone would have turned up at his party.

RiP Professor.

RIP Professor Hawking. As one who has lost friends and family to MND, we share the pain but Honour the achievements. One more Hero lost for me and all of mankind.
