Cool

Morning all.

Blue sky again this morning.

Lousy nights sleep.

Going to give Bumbles a good clean. Starting with a wash, clay bar, wax n polish.

Morning all - it's finally rained during the night for the first time in gawd knows how long (I know we've had a couple of coverings of snow).
Now grey, overcast and cool with only the briefest glimpse of the sun.
Strange day - we're now retired/ex-caravanners, having sold our 'van yesterday. For the first time in many years I can look out of the window - and there's no sign of a large white thing.
We've had many very happy hols in caravans over the years, but old age and dodgy backs, legs and arms told us it was time to admit defeat. Future holidays will now be self-catering (because of her coeliac disease) country cottages - have you seen the price of them this year

How’s things with Jessica and yourself?
I saw the photos Jeff of your slap up meal and it looked very tasty. With leftovers, yum yum

Jessica is using an app learning to play bridge, it’s slow progress. This afternoon she will be swimming Hot today at 29C

How am I?

When I had the vascular scan in South Africa in December, the surgeon said the aneurysm had grown to 5.6cm in diameter. At 5.5cm, the standard in the UK is to operate, but he said to keep an eye on it and to remain active to stop it growing any larger. Apparently the operation is dangerous. I had a CT chest scan and no lung cancer seen, excellent!

I have a monitoring scan every 3-6 months. Fortunately aneurysms can be repaired using a graft, but they can also blow. When mum was in hospital being investigated for constipation, she suddenly collapsed and died.

An autopsy showed her death was caused by an unknown aneurysm blowing.

I wonder how many people have slipped through the UK National aneurysm monitoring programme net because of Covid suspending the scans for people aged 65 and over. It’s NHS screening using a simple abdominal vascular ultrasound scan and it saves lives

If you were to see me now Jeff, I am a picture of health. But last year when I came out of hospital, whilst eating apples, my top 2 front teeth snapped in half and I have not had the chance to have them repaired, so when I wear the face mask the missing front teeth can’t be seen Looking forward to getting back to the UK and having the broken teeth pulled out and new ones put in. Maybe the aneurysm will also be repaired.

Apart from that I have no complaints and next week I am taking Jessica on Safari. We are renting a self catering cottage in the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro and it will make a nice break, something different.

Hi Rod, I am sorry to hear you have sold your caravan, that is quite a change but it’s something I can understand.

Not nice here, wet overnight, not raining now but cool, and breezy and in no hurry to dry up.

If you fancy a trip down to Dorset some of our friends have some pleasant accommodation on offer..I can't promise a discount but by all means tell them that I recommended them to you just in case.

Thanks for the updates Phil.

Keep looking after yourselves the both of you.

Fingers crossed that you can get your aneurysm and your teeth sorted on your return to Blighty.

Looking forward to seeing your photos from Kilimanjaro

Been a lovely sunny and even a pleasantly warm day here.

Morris has been kicking back and enjoying it

Evening all, It's been on & off light rain for most of the day, We've got that fresh rain smell after not having any for a couple of weeks.
Train driving duties for most of the day & had roast cod fillets with herby wedgies & marrowfat peas
Hope youget your teeth sorted out Phil, I had the triple 'A' check up two years ago & thankfully all was well.

Morris is a handsome chap Jeff, Our black & white cat Tansie is sat on my lap as I type & has a white chest just the same.
