For my steering wheel controls illumination, nice and easy and a great kit. Then to Neil and Rick

Cruised down to Weston-super-Mare for a grave tidy and ice-cream.

All the way there and back I didn't see a single other Rover. Only saw two other cars pre-2000 on the motorway (respect to the R reg Honda Civic zooming past in the fast lane of the M5). Did see a nice Cavalier SRi in WsM Sainsbury's car park. Lean pickings for 200+ miles.

The old V6 loves motorway work. Left Weston with a full tank and range saying 400 miles. 110 miles later range was showing 410 :¬)

Fixed the number plate light on marmite, to get ready for MOT next week.
Had to take the boot plinth off, destroying one of the outer studs in the process.🙄

The other 3 studs had obviously suffered a similar fate previously, but a previous repair job on them was holding up fine 👍

The one I mangled was the only original.
Fashioned a similar repair job on the broken one.
Washed, Clayed, polished and waxed it.
I used Meguiars polish and wax, as I had it in the shed. TBH I think I’d prefer Autoglym super resin polish, as the Meguiars polish didn’t leave the surface with that “slippy” feeling.
Looks grand when it’s all waxed up though.

Default My car is cleverer than I am

So..., after much faffing I now have two ignition keys but only one transponder chip. Given the fact that I shed my personal possessions on an hourly basis and my wife is always hiding my keys (how else is she able to find them for me so quickly?). I thought I would do the stupid thing and take the transponder chip out of the working key and attach to somewhere near the ignition lock - that way the ignition would always work and I would have a back-up key (genius). Now obviously the potential to 'brick' your car by breaking, losing or otherwise messing up the tiny chip is enormous but I somehow managed to avoid doing that. Chip taped to ignition lock, both keys now start the car - success! No, of course not - as you already know, the car won't remote lock if the key is in the ignition or some numpty has taped the chip to the ignition... So I put it all back the way it was and was quietly pleased that the car had foiled my attepts at bodgery (this time...)

Next job after a cuppa new jacking rubbers in the jacking points,(silicone in for added strength) didn't have any in when I bought the car.

Yeah I've had them on other cars in the past and have always sealed under them correctly before fitting and then seal the edges all round so water doesn't get inside the gaps behind them. Been on 18 months now with no problems.
I thought it may be, as your avatar mentions Kent. Been round the castle and the ‘tunnels’, say no more. I have also watched the car/passenger ferries trying to get into western dock in bad weather. Glad I was not on one of them as I reckon there were a few ill people on board, and possibly a few bumped cars.My son was delayed for two days from going back to Germany with his pregnant wife on the hovercraft.

Default Paint

Today I cleaned up the roof bars on the tourer and sprayed behind those cute rubber access points with some WD40. I'm trying to be helpful 'cos tomorrow Richard's going to take it away and paint the bonnet and the roof.
We shall see!

Just handed Rich the keys and watched him drive off in the car. Weird. (Frost overnight! He was pleased I'd warmed it up for him. I told him, I warmed it up for me!)
