Default Questions re: non SE cars

I've been toying with the idea of selling my diesel ZT, and taking the plunge into the world of V8 ownership.

I've been looking around, and I've seen a non SE saloon, which looks promising, but I'd like to pick the brains of the more knowledgeable if I may.

I have a number of toys on my diesel which I'd like to keep, ie: powerfolds, electric rear blind, autodipping mirror etc. what are the chances of the wiring looms being present?

I've not even seen the car in the flesh yet, and no wiring would not be a dealbreaker, as I could swap them with my existing car if necessary, I was just wondering if they'd be there.

I must admit, I'm still unsure if a V8 is the right way to go. At the moment it's like I've got an angel whispering in one ear, and a devil in the other. (the V8 devil is loudest at the moment )

I might just end up with a pushbike.......

Powerfolds, blind and mirror are easily fitted, you would just need the door looms for the powerfolds, if the other wires are not present, it's not a bad job to retrofit.

Something you could help with?? (for the right price, of course )

I need to convince myself a V8 is the way to go....

A 260 as a daily driver is a good idea isn't it?

Yes/no

Yes, comfort (better in a 75) nice sound from the engine/exhaust, the engine will go on and on. Parts are okay with some bits to watch out for. The weaknesses have been reduced with replacement parts.

No, if you don't mind the fuel bills, going from diesel to V8 will be noticeable. The oil is 5000 between replacement though I'm convinced it can go longer. Never had the guts to test it.

There are owners who run the V8's as daily cars but over time has reduced, moving to weekend/show runners. If you are mindful of budget pressure then no. If its not an issue yes

Mine is a standard but it has a factory fitted sunroof and a lot of the SE options have been retrofitted over its life. I bought it with xenons, heated/memory leather seats, DD head unit with satnav etc, parking sensors, I have a set of powerfolds which I haven't got round to fitting yet. Regarding the wiring, I know the wiring for the seats was there, Brian (marinabrian) pointed out that the connector for OEM parking sensors is present (its got aftermarket ones fitted) so there's every chance the wiring for the other options is there, apart from the powerfolds, needed to make up looms for them. Non SEs have manual rear windows but according to Brian converting them to electric isn't a big job

Mine is almost a daily driver, especially if the weather is dry! OK fuel comsumption around town is a wee bit nippy but the fun factor far outweighs that.

Of course, daily driver? its your choice at the end of the day, plenty of people use them as the daily transport!

Thanks everyone for all the replies, certainly food for thought.

I'm going to try to see the car in question in the flesh, and go from there I think.

If you have the last 3 digits of the VIN and or Reg. Number we might have some info on the car.

I don't have them at the moment, but I'm seeing the car sometime this week, so I'll get them then, and I'll post them up.

It's the black one that was on Gumtree, and is now on ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3218028609...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
