MG ZTT 190 - Revo remap, worth it?
Hi
As I got my MG for a bargain, and have already wasted money on a cat back exhaust and induction kit, I asked a local company (Ellon) for a remap, I have been quoted for a remap with a before and after dyno graphs. They think it will on get 12-15 BHP and the same in torque. Anyone had a Revo remap, did they notice any difference, as its lest than 10% extra? Regards Barry |

How open to contrasting opinions are you?
I honestly think these two words sum up the whole notion of modifying a NA for negilable performance gains. Genuine question: When driving, under what circumstances do you find yourself wishing you had more power? I tend to find the 190 sufficient for most real world situations, so long as I'm in the right gear. |

I concur with that.
If I were that desperate for going faster in a big old car I'd buy a faster big old car. It's a worry as it is, what with speed cameras everywhere, that the slightest bit of over-enthusiasm could result in 3 points and a fine.

NA engine gains are going to be much less than turbo (petrol/diesel) but part of the process is improving the response/part throttle torque.
I've had owners with 1.4s say the improvement is well worth the money just to make it nicer to drive even if the full throttle numbers aren't always massively bigger |

I'm of the opinion that a remap is about more than "Peak" numbers and top speed not sure why losing your license would be any more of an issue....lol.... my car can already lose me my license
if you have 5% more power across the rev range - I'd say this is significant - and sharper throttle response is going to make a car feel/perform better under normal driving conditions Paul. |

Buy some iridium plugs and use Shell V power or similar as I did and the response was better and didnt cost me £200 either. Its a big heavy lump of a car so unless you dont mind shelling out loads of cash for minimal gain its your shout. I had 4 ZT 190s and been down that road.

Thanks guys for the replys.
The thing is, I had £1500 burning a hold in my pocket, and with my new job I don't really need a car as my Wife drops me off at work, but I wanted an fast estate, as my Vauxhall adam struggles when I go to B&Q! So after buying it, selling the spares that came with it. I have about £400 left witch will cover the remap, and the change can be spent on a tank of V power.....Already have iridium plugs when I serviced it last month. Thanks again, remap it is, I will post the results! |

£400? That's an expensive remap.
A shame you're not closer as working on the kv6 as we speak |
