Never owned a Velo myself Brian, but had friends who have. The red x in a box occasionally happens to other photo's on here, including my own. No idea why. These rice rocket and American tractor owners don't know what they're missing, do they!

True, and they don't seem to realise that if it wasn't for 'bicycles with engines' (some of which by the way had engines of 1,000cc), there wouldn't be the sorts of 'bikes they ride today!

Velocette Venom 500 single.
It's got a great name and doesn't look like a tarts boudoir.

Eureka! Finally got the hang of this picture posting malarkey!

Some great stuff in this thread chaps. Here's my contribution -

Harley Davidson FXDS 1340 (much meddled with and changed to slightly more sensible bars shortly after this pic was taken)

Stage 2 Tuned
Progressive Suspension Front and Rear
Wide Glide Front End
Vance and Hines Long Shots Exhaust
+ Loads of other weird little odds and sods

Goes like a train it does... (Well. Keeps me happy anyway)

Past misdemeanours (in reverse chronological order) -

Moto Guzzi T3 California
Yamaha Fazer 600
Suzuki GS850
Suzuki GS1000
Honda CX500 (The Plastic Maggot)
Kawasaki Z1000ST
Moto Guzzi T3 California
Kawasaki GPZ750
Kawasaki Z1000
Kawasaki Z650 chop
Kawasaki Z650
Kawasaki Z400J
Honda CB250T

I've probably missed a couple along the way, but hey.....

Bikes were my first love. A totally different experience to cars. With a bike you're definitely "out amongst it". Exposed and vulnerable yes, but this brings with it a vibrancy that's hard to explain unless you've experienced it. With a car you sit inside, looking out. A much more cossetted and comfortable experience. Though both have their drawbacks and virtues, the older I get, the more I notice my creaking bones when I get off the bike after a couple of hours or so. Not so my ZT. Definitely my favourite car so far.

I don't own a bike but I'm very lucky.

I live on the Quay in Poole Dorset. Probably many of you know, we have a Bike meeting every Tuesday night during the summer. It is in aid of charity, and attracts many bikes (1000 !) each week.

The bikes vary from early AJS, Rudge, Velocette (inc water cooled), BSA, Triumphs, right through to the modern incarnations, plus a number of owner modified bikes. I was unaware there are so many variations, and models of Harley Davidson. Some owners have even adapted their Honda Goldwings to carry their pets and also tow small trailers. All in all over the course of the summer I get to see most motorbikes that have been made in the last 70 odd years. If you have ever been to this venue with your bike, then I have almost certainly had a look at it.

Every week they also have a 'Bike Of The Week' competition. This is very hotly contested among the 1000's of bikes that are there, and to win among this sort of competition is fantastic. Whilst I am looking at the bikes (I am on my mobility scooter) I get loads of suggestions I should line up & enter !

It is the highlight of my week, and the sound of all those bikes arriving and leaving has to be heard to be believed.

So, roll on next summer And I'll see them all again.

If you can get there you will not be disapointed.

Didn't really get on with this, so only kept it a few months.

Lovely bike, just a bit slow.

Cracking bike, but really wanted the one below.

Terrible picture, sorry(just gone into the garage to take it, nice trainers!), but she is one of the last of the iconic shape. A single seat Final Edition.
