Default Engine Temo

Good evening all,

I have a Connoisuer 2.5V6 and the engine seems to keep running at anywhere beteen 96 and 105C, which seems to be a bit too high to me.
Can anyone advise on this and possibly if it is too high how to go about fixing it.
Many thanks
Tom.

Is your fan working ok? Coolant level ok? When was your water pump/thermostat last changed?

The fan is working fine, coolant level ok, water pump and thermostat changed with the belts 24,000 miles back. Running temp has always been this high.

Are you saying that you have never had to top up the coolant then Tom?

Sorry Simon I think I have confused the matter somewhat.
About a week ago the engine was reaching the temperature I quoted at the start of this thread.
Then I topped up the fluid level, and in the next 40 mile round trip the temp ranged between 96 and 100C.
Did the same journey on Saturday and it was reading between 97 and 105.
This morning I added approximately 1.3 pints of coolant and the reading was once again between 96 and 100, but crept up to 101 when I left it idling for a couple of minutes.

I thought so. You have a leak Tom. Have you looked in the 'V' recently?

No, not sure I would know how to do that.
I think the last time it was stripped down that far down was when the belts were changed.
Sounds like if there is a leak in there it would be a big job to fix.

Tom.

Default KV6 engine temp

Just to illustrate my experience - after changing water pump and stat and with a new radiator fitted in my ZT 180 auto I show a steady 84 degrees when cruising at 70mph, and around 90 - 93 in suburban streets. Only now reaches 100 if stuck in very slow/stationary traffic for quite a while.
