Default Help! - Really loud high pitched whine

Help! - Really loud high pitched whine coming from engine when I started this morning. Seems to be coming from IM/injector area. Was fine when I was tinkering yesterday, emptied the plenum and changed the air filter. Turned on this morning and the noise is quite loud an constant any ideas what it is?

check if it changes pitch with revs of the engine - could be a belts issue? Or if you just changed the air filter, check all connected OK still - loose pipe/ duct could be the culprit.

Check around the belts and pulleys in case you have dislodged anything and it is catching. Also check belt for tension and in case you have spilled anything onto it causing slip.

I drove it after working on it yesterday and all was ok so I don't think I've done anything untoward. Just tried it again and its not doing it. It was freezing outside and covered in ice when it did it if that makes any difference?

Could be the fan belt slipping. They are under load by the alternator after first starting up. Being damp won't help.

I don't think so, as the sound wasn't coming from that area.

Re earlier post, it wasn't changing pitch with the engine either. Weird one.

Could it be the Starter Motor ? - Ice causing the Rod/Shaft to stay open/extended ? - allowing contact with the Flywheel ?
