Coil Springs
Hi,
Im currently looking into replacing the coil springs on my 2001 zt v6 but am really not sure what I am supposed to be ordering! I am buying the shocks all round from dmgrs which are built to the comfort spec. My car currently has the early sport springs and shocks which are to firm for the poor roads. Can anyone tell me which springs I need to match the dmgrs shocks that wont effect ride height or cause them to bottom out etc! |

Got these cos they were the factory fitted ones for my car. I suggested them because they are comfort spec. You need someone more knowledgeable to answer your more detailed questions I'm afraid.

I buy all my springs etc.. from Best 0f British on ebay - if you send him a message (His name is Ron) and tell him what you want he will sort you out. prices are good. and he has MG Rover stock

I messaged him on ebay... apparantly he said I need brown brown springs but they are out of stock.. im not sure though if they would be compatible anyway with the new shocks im also after a slightly softer ride anyway.. So what im wondering now is will aftermarket springs from euro car parts be ok without making the car sit higher.
Cheers though Phill |

I think Rimmers have them in stock, about £100 a pair if I remember correctly.

I've just been looking through Dragrads how-to regarding front damper assembly replacement (includes springs). Firstly this is a great how-to, but it was done by a member on another forum and moved to here. On it is a link to the original thread and one of the responses caught my eye. If you go for Brown Brown you might need to know this - "Thanks for the 'How To', helped me out loads. Managed to change the OSF shock top mount and drop link. However a word of caution, you need to check your spring set up before starting. I was told if you have 'Brown/Brown' is more or less impossible to compress these springs with spring compressors and you will need a hydraulic press. Will finish the job next week and replace the NSF shock, top mount and drop link. It really make a difference on ride and handling. " Sounds like those springs are hard, don't think you'll get much comfort from them. Thought you'd better see this
