It's not a question of protection Alan, the makers of your video haven't understood the subject properly.
A crossover splits the frequencies for efficiency which results in improved sound quality. It's correct selection of the power capacity of the loudspeaker coil which provides the protection against damage. This reference from the UK is correct. Simon

Before you do though, watch the entire video, it seems you have either misunderstood what the video is about or didnt watch it beyond one minute. Ignore the references to the active crossover and the digital signal processor. The video is actually advice on adding a failsafe into a signal circuit of the drivers, in the event of the vehicle owner setting the incorrect values on an ACTIVE crossover. It is, in effect, a video on how to make part of a crude passive crossover

You asked about "protecting" the tweeter from low frequencies. I have answered that. If you don't believe me, connect a small diameter speaker to a high quality amplifier of appropriate power output and no harm will be caused to the loudspeaker by low frequencies. The video you posted is irrelevant. Simon

Sorry about that diversion Seb.
When you took off the front door card, was there a capacitor wired between the bass/mid range unit and the connector for your newly purchased tweeter? I've installed HK speakers myself but it was such a long time ago now. Simon

It may also be mounted/soldered to the terminal of the tweeter itself.

The wiring diagrams show the tweeter as wired in parallel with the bass cones, there is a passive crossover in my car which hasn't had HK bodged in
