Glad you have it fitted how you like it to be.

Like ive said prev, I have had no issues in the past on fitting these stereos, in my cars or in my customers cars and everyone has always been happy.

Yes they can pretrude 1mm from the ATC at the bottom but tbh they down look as bad as your making out lol.

I tried to get the clips from my contact at Xtrons but he is very hard work to talk to, so if you could PM me the contact you used to get them then I will buy some in and fit them to the stereos that dont come with them.

Cheers
Jub

Yeah you are right, the fit is probably not that bad for some people, but Ive been spoiled with BMW Alpine fitments, which is 100%.

I got a reply from "Abby" at Xtrons, who knows if that is their real name or not.

Could be like "Steve" from Hyderabad or something when speakign to a call centre!

Im not into things sticking out, and I do fully admit Im OCD. I mean I did go to the trouble of sourcing BMW connectors for the SWC connection so it was plug and play and looked OE. What can I do though....its an affliction!

They didnt even send the screws, and argued with me this morning that the unit does not require screws... Well it flipping does to mount the clips!

1mm is a stretch! Its 3mm! But then if you are bending the top out so you change the angle, then I suppose it will appear smaller.

MIne fitted just fine. Shaved off the plastic tabs sticking out and is just held with the two top screws with the metal tabs. Doesn't flap about.

Didn't have to trim the centre console.

It will not be "just fine"

It will move about.

My Xtrons unit hasnt even got the screen protector off it, yet crashed and froze on boot up yesterday at the MG logo.

Not sure if I would even recommend to my worst enemy at the moment.

I was about to post that I actually think you're a little mad to spend so much time and effort fitting a Chinese DDIN for exactly this kind of reason. I didn't really care they didn't fit exactly perfectly - it was the rest of the experience that drove me mad. If you get stressed by it sticking out at the bottom by a couple of mm ........

Blimey, Ive read all the posts and thanks I admire your efforts.. I was toying with the idea of replacing my original Highline unit(4") with something I can see better but I wont bother after reading all this. "Plug and Play"???? just joined the three biggest lies. Chris.S

I cut off my plastic lugs from the dash where the Unit screws on to, silly flimsy little bits .

Made an Aluminium bracket that screws up under the dash using the 2 Console mounting screws .

And screwed the Radio Unit to that bracket. now fits perfectly.

The overall sizes/Shape of the Chinese unit is perfectly ok as a fit its just the mounting method in our cars is a bit naff

Thread revival

The reliability and sound quality of a lot of these Android units is very poor.
We've binned quite a few for owners!!

The latest trend is to refit OEM units back in for originality
