I'm confused. Are tax rates changing then? For cars that have had the same tax rate for the past 10-20 years??? I thought the new rules were just for new cars, not changing on old cars too?

I've got a 54 plate 75 1.8t which I payed £270 to tax last november, will it be going up to £500 this year, or is that just for the next owner? Or is that first year rate just mentioned for the 17 plate cars?

Only on new cars apart from the usual £5-10 increase year on year on older cars.

Kia Ceed 1.6 diesel on a 12 plate, Zero Tax per year why? because it has a built in indicator on the dash to tell you when to change gear, and auto stop (that never works) so it is classed as 'eco' model

Your lucky. My insurance went up by £84 in February. Cheapest I could get it, and with my own insurer, Saga. All the rest for the same conditions were more money. Up to £6000 dearer. ****** mad if you ask me.

Yes, but I'd rather pay £1065 per annum in VED than drive one of those Keith

LINK

I understand why you bought the car, but in reality would I be influenced by low VED? well.........no not on your nellie
