I took loads of photos to aid re-assembly, then one bolt at a time. It helped that I had another one on the car I could refer to. It wasn't as bad as you might think from looking at all the springs.

Re the gasket, Rimmers sell a small kit with all the gaskets & seals that you need here: https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-MKG100260L which was what I used. I also bought a new throttle body to manifold gasket (https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-LWF100100) though to be honest, I doubt you really need it.

I did the same - took loads of photos - and you're right, the springs came apart easily. I'd cleaned it first - the dirt came off fairly easily with de-greasing spray and a brush. After an hour or so it looked like this.

It'll be a lot better after I've sorted out the oxidation.

I haven't taken the fast idle valve assembly off yet but I'll order the MKG100260L kit for it. I bought a manifold gasket LWF100100 with the last lot of bits & bobs so I might as well use it.

Here's an interesting one. If you need the entire throttle body assembly new it's £608 in the UK. In Russia you can buy it without the fast idle valve for 12,500 rubles or £124. Add a fast idle valve for £114 and you've bought everything for £238, thereby saving yourself £370. (Shipping not accounted for!).

Edit: Mistake above. The Russian one is MLB100590L, which is £446 in the UK and not £608. The £608 one is MHB102210L, which is for cars with cruise and traction control (I think!).

Cliff - I just noticed this fitting guide on the fast idle valve page (scroll down).

I wonder if the 'system reset' part has any relevance to your idling problem.

Maybe it's worth disconnecting the wiring plug to that valve (with ignition off), then reconnect it and follow the instructions.
