The teardrop was already changed in an effort to stop the judder - and it didn't.

It's a very weird judder - it only happens on full lock (or near full lock) with the car pointing uphill at a certain angle. It's extremely violent, almost stops the engine dead (in a flash). Imagine you're stopped in 1st gear with the clutch pedal on the floor, then you suddenly let go of the pedal (very fast) - that's how violent it is.

I tried to replicate it over at Lates & Pete's place but there isn't a suitable incline in the vicinity.

PS. Mike - sorry for hijacking your thread.

How does the hydramount come out off? I ask as a special tools seems to be required. From picture it just loos as if it screws in place but I assume there is more to it

Also, where can the tool be purchased? I have done a google search but not found one.

Also there is this thread from 2015

if you have a diesel, i have the same issue, on full lock its almost like the power steering is dragging on the engine idle.Only does it somtimes, not sure how to get it to happen at will!!

It just screws into place but to torque it correctly you would need the tool. There were some on Alibaba but minimum order of 5! There may be someone close who could lend you one.

It could be an iffy CV joint I suppose but I'm not sure how it would cause the clutch to judder like that.

Well, got really bored with this isolation lark, so as it was fine (apart from the wind blowing the union flag horizontally!) I got cracking. I had soaked the difficult bolts with plus gas and it all worked very well. I watched how far I had to chisel the old hydramount round before it lost its grip (about 3/4 to a full turn) and then it wound out by hand. Replacement was easier than removal and there is a visible difference in the sitting height of that side of the engine. All back together now but visitors (at 2m distance) caused me to stop before I had chance to replace all the undertray fixings with the new ones purchased some time ago. Thanks to all for advice and will report back on difference after a test run.
EDIT Fitted the missing undertray screws, final check and test drive. Luvverly Jubberly. Al sweet. Had a look at the old mount and there just seems to be a pinprick hole where the "jooce" was oozing from. The other top joint was as new but I replaced it anyway as I had a spare (if anyone needs one, let me know). Not too bad a job but my car is very low mileage and has been garaged most of its life so the crusty stuff hasn't got a hold as yet!

Is the fluid in this mount clear ? One Of the photos I've seen on here shows a yellowish mess . I have a smear of a clear oily fluid in the lip at the bottom of my mount and am wondering if this is a sign of impending doom
No other symptoms
