Try a low intermediate high six/eighteen box with a two speed differential and a crash box for a really fun driving experience! Add a 40 foot trailer with a steering rear axle and woo hoo!😂

It's terrible to think of scrapping a car for such a simple problem !!--( Just double de-clutch. )

However if you're loaded--

Simple problem? Replacing a gearbox isn't that easy, at least not on a front wheel drive machine, I can do it as long as I can work at my own slow speed - a few hours here and there.

And if I get tired of spanners then I've got a deadish T4 I recently rescued, just waiting for the postman to bear gifts and advice from afar.

No lockdown here so there's other stuff to be done, while using common sense, perhaps even picking-up a replacement gearbox

Regards

Whooops.--I simply meant learning to double de-clutch.

Many years ago I had several Fiat 500's. No synchromesh on ANY of the gears. In five minutes all the gear changes became very easy.---

T'was posted Mike

Anyway, are we sure the gear oil is the correct stuff (MTF94), and the remote gearchange cables are definitely secured correctly.

Excellent news Brian, thank you as I could do with some cheering up having found the gearbox is playing up despite the clutch working.
The oil was type MTF94, described as Trans MPM Honda/Rover, quite expensive here, but the ungrateful box didn’t appreciate it.
I’m pretty sure the cables are secure, but at this stage more than willing to check them again.
And then perhaps time for a nigh 70 year old to learn to de-clutch so he can teach daughter ...

Thanks to contributors

Here's a link to the stuff: https://www.mekonomen.se/bil/reservd...9a41-18001HRsv

and as they quote MTF 94 then I hope it's the right stuff. Certainly looked / smelt similar to the stuff I took out, except of course that the old stuff was darker.

As always, thanks for the input

Mike
