Default MG ZT-T rear shocks

Currently no rear shocks are available. However today I found a solution.

BMW shocks will fit after modification. Mine are MONROE and they are perfect.

Parts numbers below. However, the hole in the shock is 13mm and needs to be drilled to 15mm. Take care to keep the shock cool as the rubber ring may get damaged and is nog replaceable.

Parts:
MK121

PK096

E1344 MONROE Reflex

Works like a charm!

Definitely 14mm, 15mm will be too big.

Also the upper mounts will not work on our cars, but the shocks fit and work well otherwise.

Can I ask where the rear shocks weren't available?

I had a quick look at Euro Car Parts (Been a fan ever since Camberley Auto Factors got taken over by whatever company owns them this week) and they have heaps in stock. Easy job to replace them thankfully!

It seems to be a bit of a myth that Rover parts aren't available any more? I've replaced most of mine and never had a problem getting any part for my 75 Tourer?

Good tip though, BMW shocks and drill them out, what did you use to keep them cool whilst drilling? Might be useful for people in the future.

Im a turner by trade, plus i have a lathe in my garage. So i. mounted each one in turn on the cross slide, holding the drill in the lathe chuck, not much more than 150 rpm needed one of those simple jobs that takes longer to set up, than actually do!
