Default Heavy Clutch

I've just purchased my first Rover, it's a 2004 75 Diesel Tourer. I drives like a dream, if a little slow through the gears. Almost all of my previous cars have been Triumphs, I still have an original TR5. I would like some input regarding the clutch. All of my Triumphs were fitted with a Laycock clutch, these were smooth to operate and only required moderate pedal pressure. By comparison the 75's clutch is not smooth and requires considerable pedal pressure, which I find is more like the competition clutch I had on my old Spitfire and certainly not what I expected from a quality car.
So folks, what words of wisdom, if any, can you offer that might address this?
Cheers.

The 75 clutches are notoriously heavy compared to many other cars . After many years , my left knee is massively developed compared to my right
I think a first trial would be to see if you can find another 75 driver locally and let him compare your clutch ; if he finds it unusually stiff , we can then think about remedies
Anybody out there near to Stoke on Trent ?

Thanks Chris, I still find it strange that no one has done anything about the issue. Again, refering to my Triumph days, when Laycocks closed down, a small engineering company started to product a similar product, it wasn't quite as good, but it was much better than the normal after-market offerings.
