It would not then be taking on any heat in passing through the boiler? The cooler the water enters the boiler, the more heat it is able to take on from the boiler's flame, the more efficiently it will run. Condenser boilers work best, at low flow temperatures.

I agree. The boiler will remain off - its most economical state.

Just had me DD reduction confirmed.
Funny enough I'm paying less than this time last year despite being on a more expensive tariff. |

Who new? The meters are very smart. Sold on the back of blandishments about conservation, the planet and all that cobblers. I get uninvited mail every week from my supplier, despite never replying their letters.

The other side of the coin is that if someone refuses to pay their bill there are only two options which are just from the perspective of the suppliers and the customers who pay regularly and on time - change the payment method to pre-pay or cut off the electricity. Food is an essential commodity but no one expects the supermarkets to supply food to non-paying members of the public. Why would anyone expect it from energy retail companies?

I think...
The idea is to go back to monthly billing and not direct debit, the direct debit system gives them more control over consumers money, it also gives them any interest on that money they accrue by overcharging customers. A direct debit places total control of the amount they want in their hands, they can empty your bank account with their demands if they choose, it's time to stop them having that level of control.
