The switches rarely fail, if they do the brake lights normally stay on.

Check all the fuses first, the switch on the pedal is right at the top of the pedal arm and is a pig to get to!

hello caz. if you do a search on the google toolbar above "brake light switch " Rover dan has a post on here to help you do the job. usually when the brake light switch fails , the stop lights stay on. if you do buy a new switch make sure it is for the auto. the manual switch is different. on the rimmer bros website you can find all the details. its not a very nice job to do as you need to be multi double jointed and get into various upside down senarios trying to fit it. !! roll the drivers seat right back and the seat back fully reclined and headrest removed helps. its actually a hall switch and they usually keep the brake lights on , even when the fuse blows. fuses are under the passenger compartment glovebox . was F13 on the older models but later are F7 or F9 .you would need to check. are all other lights working ? was the car like this when you bought it, and didnt realise this ? some members reported that their cruise control and horn were not functioning. check the fuses again first before you change the switch. its strange that your vehicle has no brake lights at all , but check these out first. the lights usually stay on when the switch fails but lets see. ..
