Default V6 Traction Retrofit

I have recently acuired pretty much everything I think I need for a retro fit of traction control on my V6,

Quite by accident I now have :-

Throttle body with second flap
Acctuator cable
Acctuator motor unit
Braket
Dash Switch

Question for those that know, what plugs and where do I need to look out for to see if my car has the loom fitted, I presume a plug near the thotle body for second position sensor, feed in vis area for actuator motor and then dash switch.

Does the system have a seperate ECU?

Any Ideas as to wire colours?

Then I presume I will need to talk nicely to Marina Brian or one of our other T4 gurus to get it enabled (also have powerwash and BBUS to enable.)

Ok so i would need a traction control ECU, any one got one they would like to part with, dont mind paying a bit as I got the rest of it apart from the switch included in a box of other stuff i bought, case of right place right time.

How about a different abs modulator ?

Beginning to sound like hard work but I havent retro fitted anything for a while and am going into withdrawl.

Yes you need a different ABS unit as well.

I'm hoping to do this too, Corin had a complete kit a while ago which I have been meaning to purchase.

You will need ZCS codes changed on the T4.

Oh and I think some cars may need an extra loom. Have a look through the parts listings on Rimmer's, that should help on this front. My car has the secondary throttle position sensor connector resting on top of the gearbox.

yes, i have the secondary throttle position sensor and a stray connector near the vis loom end so fingers crossed the rest is there. just need the ecu and abs modulator.

I've been reading a bit about this, the Traction ECU would appear to be part of the ABS ECU and thus part of the ABS valve block if I am correct.

A few questions, does the traction ABS block have any extra pins? if not then it's possible it is the SAME ABS block however it has not had the traction enabled, or it has but the rest of the car takes no notice of it.. might be worth trying to fit all the other TC parts and connection to a T4 and seeing if it works.. Stranger things have happend

The TC ECU is a separate thing, sits gehind the glovebox near the ECU.

The TC ABS unit is supossed to have 2 extra hydraylic valves, according to Rover's technical info.

Have a look at the parts lists on Rimmers, they should help you.

Fair enough, I already have the full system! which is playing up so came across a number of posts relating to retrofitting it when seemed to indicate differnt ABS block was needed. Interesting to find out what the extra ports are for, I cant see what the traction control would use them for, unless it does more than just limit the power by clsoeing the thottle

It uses them to brake the front wheels I think. Why it can't use the existing ABS valves for doing that I don't kno, but then I don't really know much about ABS.

So it does use the brakes? from other reading it seems to only close the throttle to reduce power to control slip.. anyway where exactly is the TC ECU? as I think mine is suffering a dry joint, either that of the TC butterfly valve sensor is failing. Mine is fine first thing but more often than not throws a fault the rest of the day!

Yes it uses the brakes and yes the TC abs unit has extra conections and extra valves inside it. ( I have Physicaly had the TC and non TC ones apart.)

The TC ECU sits behind the glove box but is only used on the V6 the diesel as it is already fly by wire controls the throtle via the ecu. this is why a TC retrofit is harder on the V6 as you have to change the ABS unit and then add in the ECU, different throtle body, Secondary thotle cable and acctuator and then fit the TC ECU and splice the wiring looms together at the ABS ECU end.
Then fit the TC switch and GEt one of our T4 gurus to change your ZCS coding and tell the car you have traction and away you go!

On the diesel no need for TC ECU, Throtle Body or actuator.
