That quote is direct from the latest VOSA (now DVSA) MOT Testers manual.

Or something very similar?
It was a reply to your post 116 saying that a tester is not allowed to move the levelling wheel - they can, even if it is not because the beam is too low.
As on other posts, the test will be conducted with the adjuster on '0'.

I agree what you are saying is the logical approach. However that quote says the complete opposite. I realise some things are down to interpretation, but that rule seems very clear to me.
Test without adjusting....
And then IF IT FAILS adjust and test again???
Why would you need to do that if you already did it before you started??
Anyway, I think we are getting off subject, it is fairly well accepted that a MOT. Pass does mean a car is road legal, or even road worthy for that mater, though perhaps that is stretching the point a little, but it certainly doesn't prove HID legal.

You cant chop bits out of a testers manual to suit your argument. There was an additional few words to that sentence. I am on a tAblet, and cant flick back and forth easily, nor copy. ''Where drivers beam controls ............. without altering the controls, EXCEPT ........ etc''

I have to add, this is all very 'lol'.

At the end of the day, if you have fitted xenons, or have any other headlight that is out of alignment/incorrectly height set, and you dazzle other road users, then shame on you. at the end of the day it is a safety feature, for both you and others.

I have read most of this 'argument', and the many many others that came before it. Found them all quite humorous, in particilar with the current events going on in the world. Polly, do you want xenons? If you do, great, fit them, and have them done to spec. If you dont, then dont. Simple

If anyone else wishes to fit them, great, fit them. I wont, in all probability ever see them

This subject has been discussed at length many times and in all honesty the legalities can be interpreted in many ways.

We do seem to be going round in ever decreasing circles and all sense of a debate has been lost.

I feel it is now best left to members to make their own informed decision based on the information available and contained within the many threads.
