I know I wont get another car for £800 so would have to borrow money for another car My mechanic is ex Rover employee and advises scrapping the car as he thinks there is a risk with the other liners due to the damage done to the first liner was when the car was in the hands of a third party
Had my eye on a 54 diesel 76,000miles for £2750 but been advised its too expensive Spoke to the seller and least he'll take is £2250

OK, well then, if you keep your car away from that particular third party, it will now be safe.

Cath; do bear in mind that the diesel is by no means a paragon of virtue. Take a look at the technical section and you'll see that they, like the petrol engines, have their fair share of problems. I would hate to see you come out of the frying pan and into the fire.

If I were you Cath, I would have your 1.8 engine repaired. It's the cheapest, quickest and least stressful option. What has happened to your car is very unusual and, I'd say, extremely unlikely to happen again.
