There is local overheating with no flow, as in a high temperatures in a relatively small areas. Imagine a lamp bulb which gets much hotter than a home radiator. The lamp gets much hotter than the radiator, but will transfer very little warmth into the air.

In the case of the Rover, the engine has to raise around 2 - 3Litres of water in the primary loop up to 88C and over come the heat constantly dissipated via the heater matrix. Often it never manages to get to 88C, because the heat lost is greater than the engines heat input.

None of the heat is being dissipated in my radiator it remains completely cold, until the engine achieves 88C.

No design fault, just a fact of life with a thermally efficient diesel engine.

An entirely separate issue is the thermost seeming to open earlier than it should, as it ages.

T-Cut I agree the stat issue deserves a fresh thread - my apologies for the interruption.

That is FBH heater hose PCH119334

You only need the short bit though, you could always put a but joint in the hose, I think I have a few of the short hoses in the shed, but it is the distance you are overseas right ? so postage could be a killer.

The joint would do the trick, do you know the inside diameter of the hose to try to find the correct one?

Hi Pedro.
You seem to have a couple of posts going on this subject, and they are both tagged to someone else's thread sometimes it is best to start your own thread as your posts could get lost.

The hose/joint you need is this one below pointed to by the screwdriver.

The joint is the larger one 22mm in the photo bellow.

Considering where the damage on your hose is I would say replace the hose, as trying to add a joint will only create another weak point.
