Default 205/60r16 ? on 16 inch alloys

Hi I just wondered if anyone knew if one of these tyres would fit on the rover 16 ich alloy wheel please.

Well they will go on ok, but will they fit in as 5mm higher, or 10mm larger diameter if you like.

Many Thanks Mark.

Not sure about that combination, but if it helps I'm running 225/50r17 on meteor wheels on my saloon (oversized: should be 225/45r17) just a bit more comfortable a ride.

Looking on our tyre system at work. (I work for a tyre wholesaler.) 205 60 16 is listed as an okay size!

Nope, 215 55 16 is the size, and the TRC for that is 799 revolutions per mile and for the 205 60 16 788 revolutions per mile, which will compound speedo error.

Stick with the correct size speed and load rating, then your insurance won't be invalidated either

I know it's not the factory size but our system lists tyres that will fit the vehicle.

Hi,i have been using 205/60R16 tyres in winter for many years in my 75 without any problem.
You just need to remember that speedo is more accurate than with 215/55 tyres.

Jussi

Yes, however most 16" wheels will fit on the rim.......one of my pet hates is when someone goes into a tyre place and comes out with the wrong size / speed rated tyres fitted, just because the fitter has some kicking about on the shelf.

If in doubt reference to the car handbook will be the safest bet, or in the case of the OP, just because the correct size is more expensive, that isn't an excuse to fit the wrong size syres

Insurance companies will do anything to wriggle out of a claim, and tyres are the first thing they look at in the event of an accident

I'm sure you meant to say that rev/mile difference will mitigate the speedo error - given that most accounts of speedo accuracy refer to them reading the full +10% over the actual road speed. Of course if you are unlucky enough to actually have an accurate speedo then this will cause underread by approx 3-4% maybe more. There is also the possibility of invalidating your insurance as an incorrect tyre size may be counted as undeclared modification.

Easier to say, just fit the right size tyres though

Sure is. It's the old adage...'If you have to ask....best to work it out for yourself'
