OK Matt, refer back to posts 2 & 4 and let us know whether or not you can see a resistor.

HI Matt.
Therefore it looks like you have a four wire 3 speed fan, which the low speed brush as worn down, and most likely the medium brush also, can you double check for us that this is the case you have four wire coming from the fan motor, you can do this by reaching in behind the fan blade and removing the conduit.

If it turns out that you have the above fan you will not know the extent of the failed brushes until the fan is removed from the car and the motor opened up, only then will you know if it can be repaired.

Hi Matthew.
Your next step is to remove the fan from the car, do you have A/C gas in your car? if so then you will have to cut round the A/C connections so you do not disturb the gas which in turn would be an extra cost.

If you have no gas in the car personally i would still cut round the A/C connections so as not to crack open the joints, if the condenser is past it's best then it make no difference as you would have to remove it any way.

So its fan off the car open the motor and check to see how many brushes have failed, and if the commutator is still ok not burnt out couple of photos below.

Here you would get away with replacing only 1 brush but personally i would change the two low & medium if not all four.
1

here you can see right away the motor as been burned out.
2

3

4

Even though three brushes are in tact, the lower brush as done the damage.
5

It as melted the cooper coils.
6

This one the brush as dug into the motor.
7

Here low & medium affected but not to bad.
8

Motor ok too.
9

Clean it up with some emery cloth
10

so once you have the motor exposed let us know what it looks like.
