The first step is to determine which version of fan motor you have. A broad rule of thumb is a 2-speed fan system has a resistor (long thin silver thing) located in the 2 o'clock position behind the fan blades. You may need a torch to see and a thin stick to turn the blades. If you see the resistor, it's a 2-speed. Here, the fix is a replacement, upgraded 'gold' type. Get one from forum traders, eBay or various electronics outlets. If you don't see the resistor, it's likely to be the earlier 3-speed. There are several approaches to fixing that one.

Hi Matthew
As above look through the front grill with the engine off, and see if you can see either a silver resistor or gold one, if the fan blades are in the way use a long screw driver to turn the blade so you can see. 1 2 Without resistor 3

Yes you can reattach the blade to the fam motor spindle, you will need a thin wall 15mm socket and ratchet, line up the blade and turn it anticlockwise, once it starts to bite insert the socket & used the ratchet to hold or even turn the centre spindle nut clockwise while you turn the fan blade anticlockwise. 1 2 Note how the fixing point are with the fan. 3 Hopefully the lug inside the fan are not to flat. 4 You can also drill a small 3mm hole into the metal and add a self tapping screw to hold the fan on for the future, shown by the purple dots. 5 6 7

Matt no problem, if you manage to get the blade fitted back on do the demist test, make sure all the A/C is in the off position, turn the ignition to II do not start the engine if its a diesel.
Now press the demist button only see if the cooling fan is running continually, then report back on the forum.
