Default EGR Bypass

Has any member who has fitted an EGR bypass failed the MOT as a result?

I have an EGR bypass, Maf less custom remap and manual boost control running an extra 5psi, and it passes the MOT every time.

HI Mike.
There is a chance of failing the MOT if the tester notices that the EGR as been doctored or changed, i have not heard of that happening.

As long as the EGR is clean also the manifold plus MAP sensor, you have a new clean air filter is should fly through the MOT.

The secret trick or should i say the best trick is to run the car up temperature, ie drive it like you have stole it for at least 30 minutes or more arriving at your pre-booked MOT test 5 mins before your time.

The engine should then be hot enough for the emission test which i think if i am right should 60c minimum but best if its 80c

Best tip is try and coincide your yearly service oil, filters etc with your MOT test a week before or even a few days before

It passed today, with EGR still in place. The emission test read 0.28 with a maximum permissible of 1.5 so the bypass must be working I guess. Advisories were slightly worn brake discs and brake pipe covered in grease (?)

If they changed the diesel MOT to an analytical test like they do for the petrol engines then having an EGR bypass could become an issue, but the diesel emission test is just for visible smoke, so an increase in NOx won't be detected.
