diesel Fuel system cleaner

My MGR mechanic has recently advised me to add a bottle of fuel system cleaner to my next tank of fuel in order to improve the tickover and general health.

I see there is many brands on the net, some of which also claim to clean the DPF , could I have some reccomendedations from all you experts out there as I have'nt a clue what brand to buy, but I expect they all more or less do the same thing?

Adding it into the tank is a waste of time, pop the bottle into a new fuel filter when changing it, turn the ignition to position 2 a few times to prime the system, the fire it and run it for 20 seconds or so turn off leave onvernight, and your injectors are nice and clean. (Oh and Forte specialist diesel injector cleaner is the businesss).
Don't waste your time putting a 250ml bottle in either 60litres of fuel. As Dacia say "you do the maths".

Hi Mickeyboy thanks for the advice, trouble is I only changed my filter around 1000moles ago, surely I can just unscrew it and pour some fuel out add the cleaner ,screw back on and hey presto?

As everyone is doing this in the filter I wonder why the additive manufacturer is not writing this invaluable info on the bottle?

either my car was already in good health or I cant tell the difference but I followed mickeyboys's method. I cant tell the difference.

Not sure if it is because I do motorway miles and not town miles or may be I just don't push the car enough to notice but I would not disregard his advice

What does HE recommend ? I use Millers ecomax and find it very effective.

I read on the tinternet that the product is the same, just the names of the companies change. So I used Wynns diesel fuel injector cleaner. I put the whole bottle in a 55Ltr tank, filled it up (took 40 litres) and set off for a short drive. Didn't notice anything on that occasion, but the next day driving to work the engine was noticeably quieter and smoother.
I think other things need cleaning before I get the power increase.

Well where I buy mine from they do advertise this, it's probably the next best thing to ultrasonic cleaning, you will notice that they supply info for people who are the everyday driver,& also info on what a garage would probably do. Because as Colvert said some folk wouldn't know where to find the filter.

How to use Forte diesel injector cleaner:

Simply add the content of the bottle to your fuel tank and then add approximately 40 litres of Diesel to your tank.

Can be used when servicing your car by adding directly to a new diesel fuel filter. Most good garages will use Forte diesel injector cleaner this way when carrying out an annual service.
